We do not ask for, collect or store any personal information. There are no accounts and no sign-in. We do not run our own VPN servers and we do not log your browsing, traffic, DNS queries or connection history. Your settings (chosen mode, country and split-tunnel apps) stay only on your device.
How the VPN works
PathGuard VPN uses Android's VpnService to route your device traffic through the connection you choose:
- Free servers – public OpenVPN servers run by volunteers in the VPN Gate academic project (University of Tsukuba). These servers are operated by third parties, not by us, and may keep their own connection logs under their own policies.
- Tor and Stealth – the Tor network, optionally through obfs4 or Snowflake bridges from the Tor Project. Tor relays are run by volunteers.
- WARP – Cloudflare WARP (WireGuard), subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy.
To show available servers, the app downloads public server lists (for example from vpngate.net). These requests do not include any personal information. Do not use the free volunteer servers for sensitive activities such as banking.
Advertising
The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's Advertising ID, approximate location from IP address, and app interaction and diagnostic data. This is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy (see also how Google uses data from partner apps). You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's Android settings.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13.
